This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment on active construction sites, performing excavation work, assisting with utility installation activities, and supporting safe and efficient project execution. The ideal candidate will have experience working around underground utilities, deep excavations, trench boxes, and shoring systems while maintaining strong safety standards in fast paced field environments. This position requires travel to regional project sites, including overnight stays, and offers the opportunity to work on a variety of infrastructure and underground construction projects. Responsibilities Operate track excavators and heavy equipment on underground utility and construction sites Perform excavation, loading, unloading, grading, material handling, and rigging activities Execute deep excavations using trench boxes, sheeting, and shoring systems Maintain safe excavation practices around personnel, utilities, and active job sites Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns Read construction plans and adapt to changing field conditions Work closely with supervisors and field crews to complete projects safely and efficiently Support trenchless utility installation activities when required Follow company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and project site procedures Assist with physically demanding field work as needed Qualifications and Certifications 5+ years of excavator or heavy equipment operating experience Experience working on underground utility or construction projects Ability to read and interpret construction plans and site layouts Strong understanding of excavation safety and utility protection practices Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical field work Strong teamwork and communication skills Benefits Full-time project-based employment Opportunity to work on large scale underground utility and infrastructure projects Travel opportunities across regional project sites Team-oriented work environment Career growth opportunities within underground construction operations Additional Information Travel to project sites is required, including overnight stays Experience with trenchless construction methods is preferred Welding experience is preferred and candidates may be required to pass a weld test CDL is preferred but not required Projects are primarily located throughout the Mid-Atlantic region #INDW3
