Job Overview Join our dynamic logistics team as a Yard Switcher, where you'll play a vital role in efficiently managing the movement and organization of freight within our yard. This energetic position involves coordinating the safe and timely transfer of trailers, ensuring smooth operations for over-the-road routes and local deliveries. As a Yard Switcher, you'll utilize your driving expertise and logistical skills to keep our supply chain moving seamlessly, contributing to a fast-paced environment that values safety, precision, and teamwork. Responsibilities Safely operate yard trucks and tractor-trailers to move refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other freight containers within the yard. Use GPS navigation systems to accurately locate and position trailers for loading, unloading, or transfer. Load and unload freight with attention to proper cargo handling procedures, including hazardous materials (Hazmat) when applicable. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure correct trailer placement for delivery or pickup, adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections on yard trucks and trailers to ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards. Assist in the organization of logistics cargo handling, ensuring efficient trailer swaps and route readiness for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Maintain accurate logs of trailer movements, load/unload activities, and safety checks in compliance with company policies. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with experience in tractor-trailer or truck driving.

MUST HAVE SWITCHING EXPERIENCE!

Proven experience with delivery driving, route driving, or freight transportation. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including manual handling techniques. Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operation and hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat). Ability to operate manual transmission trucks and flatbed or tanker trailers when necessary. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, and hazardous goods handling standards. Strong navigation skills using GPS systems for route planning and trailer positioning. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with all trucking laws.
