We are a fast-growing company and operate with clean, newer equipment. The candidate for this position should be versed with the ability to operate heavy equipment, as well as be able to take directives from our Yard Supervisor. The candidate should also be able to operate at a safe pace and keep the "yard flow" moving efficiently. Experience in the scrap metal industry is preferred, but we will work with and assist experienced operators from other industries. Hourly salaries will be proportionate to the experience of the hired candidate. Sikora Metals is conscientious of bonuses and/or raise in pay if the candidate shows a commitment and excelling performances in their workmanship to the company. DUTIES
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment, such as material handlers, cranes, excavators and loaders.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance, daily.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment.
- Transport materials using commercial driving techniques.
- Report any maintenance or equipment concerns to the Yard Supervisor.
- Load and unload trucks, flatbeds and any other fleet shipping requirements.
- Operate all equipment efficiently and safely.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment and machinery.
- Proficiency with excavator, cranes, material handlers and loader operations.
- Ability to handle and understand the variety of scrap metals we receive and ship out.
- Ability to communicate well with co-workers and the Yard Supervisor.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Safe clothing to be worn (long pants, hi-vis top, yard approved boots).
- CDL License is preferred but not required.
