Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Vermeer HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating Vermeer HDD equipment to install underground utilities efficiently and safely. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and construction site experience will be vital to ensuring successful project completion. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects, utilizing advanced machinery and contributing to infrastructure development. Responsibilities Operate Vermeer HDD machinery with precision to perform directional drilling tasks according to project specifications. Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment, ensuring all systems are functioning correctly and safely. Coordinate with project managers and crew members to plan drilling operations and troubleshoot technical issues promptly. Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including depth, location, and equipment performance. Follow all safety protocols and construction site regulations to promote a secure work environment. Assist with the setup and breakdown of drilling sites, including the use of auxiliary heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, water trucks, graders, dump trucks, and tankers as needed. Support other construction activities such as paving or utility installation when required, demonstrating versatility on-site. Requirements Proven experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment or similar heavy machinery in a construction setting. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction equipment including Caterpillar products and other heavy machinery like excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machinery. Valid commercial driver's license with a clean driving record for operating trucks such as dump trucks or water tanks on-site. Experience working on construction sites with familiarity in excavation processes and underground utility installation. Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machines. Knowledge of horizontal drilling techniques and safety standards related to underground utility installation. Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues quickly and effectively. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Pay:
$240.00 - $350.00 per day
