Responsibilities As a Heavy Equipment Operator on our Long Haul Travel Crew, you will support all phases of utility construction across telecom projects throughout the U.S. You take pride in working safely, operating efficiently, and delivering high-quality results in the field. What you'll do: Support crew productivity on projects of varying lengths of time Maintain strict safety standards around underground utilities Operate light and heavy construction equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, cable plows, hydraulic reel trailers, cleanup dozers, plowcat/pullcat equipment and other job-related machinery, for utility installation and right-of-way construction projects Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance Read and interpret utility locates, maps, and above-ground markers to ensure safe excavation Troubleshoot field issues to keep projects on schedule Work 50-60 hours per week and travel 100% of the time (except PTO & Holidays) nationwide
Qualifications About You:
Have a miimum of 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in utility or civil construction preferred Ability to operate additional equipment such as clean up dozers and backhoes, skid steers, excavators; (trenchers, mini-and cable plows a plus) Strong understanding of safe excavation practices and utility locate interpretation Ability to read and follow construction plans, utility maps, and field drawings Experience working around underground utilities in active job sites Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship Valid driver's license with clean record past 3 years (CDL preferred) Willingness and able to travel throughout U.S 100% of time and work 50+ hours per week as needed
Travel Details:
  • Monday through Friday travel expected.
  • Per diem 5 days a week.
  • 50+ hours per week.
Overtime applies after 40 hours per week. Work is weather dependent. MOS Codes 12N, 12V, 21E, and 21J relate well to this position. Hard work pays off.
