30hr + $100 a day per diem Overtime Available! 60 -70 hours a week Job Description This role focuses on operating excavators on large-scale ash basin closure projects, with an emphasis on high-production excavation and material handling. You will support complex environmental remediation and heavy civil construction activities by safely and efficiently excavating, loading, and moving coal ash, soil, rock, and other materials in active construction environments. Responsibilities Operate excavators, including long reach (long boom) machines, to excavate, load, and move coal ash, soil, rock, and other materials in support of ash basin closure projects. Load off-road haul trucks with ash and other materials for transport and disposal throughout the project site while consistently meeting production targets. Perform high-volume, production-driven excavation and earthmoving activities in active construction environments with multiple pieces of heavy equipment. Support environmental remediation projects, ash pond closures, landfills, mining operations, dredging projects, and other large-scale earthworks as assigned. Execute mass earthmoving operations, including bulk excavation and material handling, while maintaining grade control and precision excavation standards. Perform fine grading and earthworks using excavators and related heavy equipment to meet project specifications and quality requirements. Operate safely around heavy equipment and active haul routes, maintaining clear communication and situational awareness at all times. Work effectively in wet or unstable ground conditions, adjusting excavation techniques to maintain safety and productivity. Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operation of the excavator and related equipment. Follow all safety, quality, and environmental compliance standards while working in high-production, dirt-moving environments. Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members to coordinate excavation, hauling, and material placement activities. Adapt to changing site conditions and project requirements while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and production goals. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
