This position requires skilled work in the operation of a variety of equipment related to the repair and maintenance of public utility facilities. This Safety Sensitive Position is subject to Mandatory Drug Testing policies as a condition of employment.
Hours:
Monday - Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; On Call as scheduled.
Location:
2021 N 27th Street Lincoln, NE 68503 Nature of Work/Examples of Work Performed Perform construction services for contractors and plumbers. Perform repair of water main breaks. Check and maintain hydrants. Locate, check, and maintain valves in the water distribution systems. Responds to emergency water main breaks after hours. Requires frequent contact with Water customers. Lifts items weighing up to 90 pounds Climbs ladders in and out of excavations up to 15 feet deep. Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience Knowledge of the operating requirements of equipment used in the maintenance and repair of a water supply and distribution system. Knowledge of applicable safety measures and precautions used in the operation of assigned equipment. Ability to read and understand water construction plans. Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements High school graduate or equivalent and at least 6 months experience in the operation of trucks and construction equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Necessary Special Requirements Valid driver's license. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required or the ability to obtain within 90 days of appointment or equivalent. If you currently have a CDL, prior to being hired for this position you will be required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse at: https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/register Lincoln Water System is one of 11 divisions in the City of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) Department.
