Candidates should have hands-on experience with one or more types of heavy equipment and be comfortable working in an active construction environment. Equipment Experience Operators may be responsible for operating: Milling Machines Dozers Backhoes Skid Steers, including mill head attachments Asphalt Pavers Asphalt Rollers Excavators Loaders and other heavy construction equipment as needed Responsibilities Safely operate assigned heavy equipment on roadway and heavy civil construction projects. Perform milling, paving, grading, excavation, site preparation, and material placement as required. Operate equipment accurately around utilities, structures, traffic, workers, and other equipment. Perform daily pre-shift inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain equipment and keep machines clean and in proper operating condition. Follow project plans, grade specifications, and direction from foremen and supervisors. Work closely with laborers, truck drivers, operators, and other crew members to maintain production. Follow all company, OSHA, DOT, and jobsite safety requirements. Assist with general jobsite duties when equipment is not in operation. Maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment. Qualifications Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment required. Experience in heavy civil, roadway, asphalt paving, milling, grading, excavation, or site work strongly preferred. Must be able to safely and confidently operate assigned equipment. Ability to understand grades, elevations, and basic construction plans preferred. Knowledge of equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions. Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime as project schedules require. Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus. Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively as part of a crew. Preferred Experience Candidates with experience operating multiple pieces of equipment are strongly preferred, particularly those with roadway milling, paving, excavation, and grading experience.
