Job Description

Overview:
RG Construction Solutions is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator/Commercial Class A Licensed Truck Driver to join our dynamic and growing excavation team. The position will include entry into the Local Laborer's/Operators union Liuna 16, and the majority of work assigned will be onsite at Los Alamos National Labs under federal contracts. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a variety of construction and industrial equipment, including loaders, excavators, blades, and trucks. This role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols, mechanical systems, and construction site operations. The Heavy Equipment Operator/Driver will be responsible for safely maneuvering heavy machinery to support construction projects, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project specifications.
Responsibilities:
Operate a range of heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, blades, and front loader trucks with precision and safety. Operate large, heavy commercial motor vehicles including semi-trucks, dump-trucks, and heavy equipment hauling. Manage construction site machinery including concrete mixers, dump trucks, water trucks, roll-off trucks, and other relevant machinery as needed. Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal functioning. Assist with site preparation, material handling, and excavation tasks according to project plans. Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on-site. Maintain good standing status with Los Alamos National Labs badging requirements. Collaborate with project managers, site superintendants, and team members to coordinate equipment usage and project timelines. Maintain accurate records of equipment operation hours and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment in a professional construction capacity. Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment systems is essential. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with experience operating trucks such as front loader trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, roll-off trucks, or tanker trucks. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety standards. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to perform demanding manual tasks daily, including lifting heavy loads and working in various weather conditions. This position offers an opportunity to work with a dedicated team on diverse projects requiring skilled operation of industrial machinery in a professional setting.
Work Week:
This is a full-time position (40 hours weekly, with OT when required by the job) with the work week schedule of Mon-Thurs, 10 hours/day. Pay is weekly, with applicable Liuna 16 Laborer's union dues and union benefits applied weekly and monthly as required. RG Construction Solutions, LLC. offers sick leave in accordance with the New Mexico Healthy Workplace Act. Accrual begins with the first hour worked, and employees may utilitze up to 64 hours of sick time per year. Any remaining accrued hours will roll into the next calendar year, but do not pay out upon termination of employment.
