Full Job Description Position Summary:
This position plays a crucial role in the execution of Garrett Excavating's projects. The Operator is responsible for assisting the foreman and crew members in all tasks within the set up, prep, completion, finishing, and clean up of the site. This role will function between both earth work and utility work.
Primary Duties:
Lead by example on all sites. Operation of equipment on commercial and residential projects. Remain responsible and focused on personal and company growth. Participate in daily site meetings, project tasks, and all aspects of a project in order to serve our customers. Consistently review job specifications to determine materials, tools, and equipment needed prior to reporting to the job site. Contribute positively to on-schedule and in-budget projects. Maintain and exceed safe work requirements set forth by Garrett Excavating and OSHA. Must be able to read drawings and execute accordingly. Ensure all job documentation is done completely/accurately. Execute complete excavation projects including but not limited to clearing, demolition, sewer taps, retaining walls, foundation prep, concrete prep, and grading. Adapt to weather conditions to complete jobs year round.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience operating all types of heavy equipment Excavators, dozers, loaders, etc.) 3+ years of excavation experience. Experience with water lines and storm trenching in a production-based environment. Must be able to read drawings and execute accordingly. Must be interested in growing responsibilities. Coachable and eager to learn. Team player who is motivated to succeed. Problem solver who looks to create solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Class A Commercial Drivers License. Previous management experience. OSHA 30 Construction Certification.
