Overview:

Respond to calls from dispatch. Operate heavy duty tow truck to tow a variety of large automotive equipment such as tractor trailers, heavy duty dump trucks, garbage trucks, heavy equipment, and larger vehicles. This work involves rigging for towing vehicles; tows vehicles to appointed locations; positions vehicle in designated locations.

Duties:

Drive and operate vehicles in a safe manner. Safely attach a truck to a tow truck based on learned towing practices. Operate equipment to tow/recover vehicles in a safe manner. Secure units safely and legally according to DOT regulations Deliver, pick up, load and unload vehicles and equipment.

Job Type:

Full Time This job has no supervisory or management responsibilities.

Pay:

$900 to $1200 take home salary per week depending on experience and training. Opportunity for commission during after hours or weekends

Shift:

Day shift On call night shift and weekends with one weekend a month not on call

Requirements:

Valid Class A CDL Clean driving record Must meet

DOT Requirements:

Pass pre-employment drug screening, current DOT medical card. Pass a background check. Ability to work an on-call schedule: irregular hours, weekends, evenings, holiday, etc. Eligible to work in the United States Reliable transportation to work for regular hours, on call, and weekend schedule. Previous experience in professionally operating a wrecker or eagerness to learn.

The Ability To:

§ Drive manual transmission. § Basic mechanical knowledge / skills § Communicate in English. i.e., understand and carry out instructions. § Add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Basic math skills. § Read and interpret safety rules. § Understand maps, directions and gps. § Apply common sense and understanding to carry out verbal instruction. § Maintain truck and tools provided which includes basic hand tools. § Physically perform the duties and to work in the environment conditions required of this position. § Bend, stretch, twist, squat, and reach out with body, arms and / or legs, use hands to operate hand tools. § Lift, push, pull, or carry heavy loads. § Sit, stand, walk, perform heavy manual labor under adverse climate conditions for 8+ hours a day. § Climb in and out of trucks and on or off of trailers. § Must be able to be exposed to noise, dirt, grease, oil and other non-hazardous encounters.
