Road & Rail Services Build a Career in Railroad Operations Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable Equipment Operator to join our mechanical operation in Butler, Pennsylvania . This is a hands-on position located at a working railroad facility where safety, teamwork, and reliability are essential every day. If you have experience operating heavy equipment, construction equipment, forklifts, loaders, industrial machinery, or material-handling equipment , your background may transfer well to this position. Previous railroad experience is helpful but not required . We are interested in candidates who are comfortable working around large equipment, following detailed safety procedures, and learning the railroad industry. This is not a climate-controlled warehouse position. Work is performed primarily in an active industrial and railroad environment, including outdoor conditions throughout the year. What You'll Do As an Equipment Operator, you will support the mechanical operation by safely operating equipment and assisting with the movement of materials, parts, tools, and other items needed by the facility.Responsibilities may include:
Safely operate assigned heavy equipment and material-handling equipment Move, load, unload, and position materials and equipment throughout the facility Perform daily pre-use inspections and identify potential equipment concerns Support mechanical and railroad operations as directed by site leadership Maintain organized and safe work areas Follow established procedures when working around railcars, tracks, vehicles, and moving equipment Use proper PPE and comply with company, customer, and railroad safety requirements Assist with general labor and other operational duties when equipment operation is not required Report unsafe conditions, equipment damage, or maintenance concerns immediately Maintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared for scheduled shifts What We're Looking For Successful candidates should be comfortable working in a physical, safety-sensitive industrial environment . We are looking for individuals who: Have previous equipment operation, construction, industrial, manufacturing, railroad, or similar hands-on experience Can safely work around heavy machinery and railroad equipment Are comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and changing weather conditions Can stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, and perform physical work throughout the shift Can follow written and verbal safety instructions Understand the importance of attendance, communication, and teamwork Are willing to learn railroad-specific procedures and mechanical-site operationsPay & Benefits Starting Pay:
