Heavy Equipment Operators Premium Wages depending on Experience Full time Responsible for the safe operation of various types of heavy equipment machinery used for site excavation and utility installation, and demolition of sites. May operate scrapers, backhoes, excavators, dozers and other heavy equipment as needed. Will clean and check equipment prior and after operation. May assist other craft workers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor. Fine grade fill to grades given by foreman. Bulk various materials as required in site preparation. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Use shovels and other hand tools to dig trenches, locate utilities and grade materials as required. Watch for hand signals to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Monitor equipment gauges to insure equipment is operating in proper working order and in a safe mode.
