Operators must have hands-on experience digging trenches for sewer and storm drain work, working around grade, bedding, pipe crews, shoring, utilities, and other trades. This position includes excavation, trench preparation, loading/spreading bedding material, backfilling, grading, and supporting compaction operations. Pipe installation will be performed by others, but operators must understand how to dig safely and accurately for underground utility work. This position offers an opportunity to work on high profile construction sites, utilizing your skills to build and maintain essential utility systems. Duties Operate excavators and skid steers for sewer and storm drain trench work Excavate trenches to proper depth, width, and grade Work around slopes, elevations, lasers, grade stakes, and pipe crews Load, place, and spread bedding material as directed Assist with trench backfill and grading Work safely around trench boxes, shoring, utilities, equipment, and other trades Support compaction operations and maintain safe trench conditions Perform daily equipment checks and report issues to your supervisor Requirements Excavator and/or skid steer operating experience required Underground utility, sewer, storm drain, waterline, or pipeline experience Must understand trenching, bedding, backfill, slopes, elevations, and grade requirements Experience working around shoring, trench boxes, and active utility crews Must be able to meet federal project access requirements Must be legally authorized to work in the United States OSHA 10 certification required. If not currently certified, applicant must be willing to complete OSHA 10 training before starting; company will pay for the training for qualified applicants Must be dependable, safety-minded, and able to follow direction Join our team to play a role in building essential infrastructure!
