Heavy Equipment Operator /
Material Handler Yard Supervisor Location:
Salt Flat, TX (approximately 90 miles east of El Paso near Guadalupe Mountains National Park)
Please Note:
Salt Flat is a remote West Texas location. Candidates should be comfortable working in a remote environment and traveling to Pecos, TX for initial training.

Upon hire through Thanksgiving 2026 Employees will report to the Pecos Yard for training through Thanksgiving, before transitioning to the Salt Flat location.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Working Yard Supervisor to lead and support operations at our outdoor material laydown yard in Salt Flat, TX. This hands-on role requires meticulous inventory management, heavy equipment operation, and daily physical labor. The successful candidate will maintain accurate inventory counts, manage material flow, operate heavy equipment, and ensure yard operations are performed safely, efficiently, and accurately. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory control and ensuring reliable daily yard operations. Because this is a single-person site assignment, exceptional attendance and reliability are required. The successful candidate must consistently report to work as scheduled and communicate proactively regarding any planned absences. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, extensive experience operating large wheel loaders (35,000 lbs. with forks), and the physical ability to consistently lift 50 lbs. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervisory Duties Coordinate daily yard operations and job assignments. Ensure safety compliance and proper equipment usage. Serve as the primary point of contact for onsite operations. Assist with resolving material discrepancies and logistics issues.
Operational / Material
Handling Duties Operate heavy equipment including telehandlers and large wheel loaders. Load, unload, and move materials manually and with equipment. Verify incoming deliveries for accuracy in quantity and quality. Maintain accurate inventory records and material tracking. Conduct routine inventory audits and promptly resolve discrepancies. Track inventory and maintain an organized yard layout. Label and store materials in designated locations. Secure loads for transport using strapping, padding, or bracing. Assemble crates or packaging using hand tools. Perform basic maintenance on material handling equipment. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Requirements Proven experience supervising in a yard, construction, or material handling environment. Experience operating large heavy equipment, including 35,000 lb. wheel loaders with forks, telehandlers, or similar equipment. Strong inventory control and material tracking experience. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. consistently. Comfortable working outdoors in a physical, labor-intensive environment. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work overtime and adapt to changing priorities. Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently. Excellent attendance record; reliability and punctuality are imperative. Valid driver's license required. Additional Requirements Employees assigned to the Substation Yard will be required to wear FR (Flame-Resistant) clothing . Additional arc-rating requirements will be provided as available. Inventory accuracy and attendance are imperative. As the primary onsite representative, the successful candidate must maintain accurate inventory records and consistently report to work as scheduled. Because only one employee will be assigned to this yard, most planned time off should be scheduled in advance to allow for operational coverage by the Regional Manager.
