In this vital role, you will operate specialized vacuum excavation equipment—commonly known as Vactors—to perform precise utility locating, excavation, and construction utility work. Your expertise will ensure efficient project progress while adhering strictly to safety regulations and equipment safety procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale construction projects, utilizing your heavy equipment operation skills and mechanical knowledge to deliver outstanding results. Duties Operate Vactor trucks and related heavy machinery safely and efficiently during excavation, utility locating, and construction utility work. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on Vactor equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance. Conduct utility locating using specialized tools and techniques to identify underground utilities before excavation begins. Execute construction grading, excavation, backhoe operation, loader operation, and water truck duties as required on-site. Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment for all team members. Assist with construction site setup, including site preparation, equipment positioning, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Collaborate with team members to complete project documentation, shift reports, and safety logs accurately. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on heavy equipment operation such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and water trucks. Strong mechanical knowledge for routine maintenance and troubleshooting of Vactor trucks and construction machinery. Skilled in utility locating techniques using modern tools to prevent damage during excavation activities. Extensive construction site experience with a solid understanding of construction grading, utility work, and excavation processes. Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and strict adherence to safety regulations governing heavy equipment operation. Ability to operate Caterpillar machinery or similar brands with proficiency in excavator, loader, backhoe operations. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.
