This position performs duties related to the maintenance and construction of county roads and bridges, as well as, the operation, maintenance and service of all County road equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operate all county equipment, vehicles and trucks. Replace road signs and post. Maintain and service all county equipment, vehicles and trucks. Clean and mow bar ditches. Assist with traffic control at work sites.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR LOADER
Operate and maintain loader. Machine work and mechanic duties, as needed. Some welding required. Responsible for purchase orders on parts and repairs. Required to attend CPR training provided by the County. Review, comprehend and enforce MSHA workplace safety guidelines. Other responsibilities include duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job. Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent. Experience in the operation of heavy equipment. Possess a valid Texas Commercial Drivers License.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Have general knowledge of soil types and water flow. Have the ability to follow oral and written instructions or directions and convey information to others. Requires the ability to interact and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and the public.
