Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic with experience and the ability to inspect, maintain, and repair machinery and overhead cranes. This role requires expert-level diagnostics, advanced mechanical repair capability, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. You will perform complex inspections, troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, structural, and engine systems, and complete preventative maintenance to ensure maximum equipment uptime and compliance with
OSHA/ASME
crane requirements.This position requires you to:
Diagnose, inspect, and repair machinery and cranes to ensure safe and optimal operation. Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic software, schematics, and technical manuals. Conduct certified crane inspections, documenting findings and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. Operate, maintain, and demonstrate proficiency with advanced diagnostic tools, shop equipment, and specialty tooling. Fabricate, assemble, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Execute scheduled lubrication, preventative maintenance, and component replacements to extend machinery life. Maintain exceptional safety, quality, and efficiency in all work performed. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, and crane components. Conduct annual, monthly, and frequent crane inspections perOSHA/ASME
requirements. Inspect wire rope, sheaves, hooks, load blocks, structural members, safety devices, limit switches, and braking systems. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic flow charts, and crane load charts. Document repairs, inspection findings, and parts usage accurately and promptly. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to resolve machinery issues and recommend long-term solutions. Operate and maintain forklifts, skid steers, manlifts, telehandlers, track hoes, loaders, and cranes as required. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Communicate machinery status, safety concerns, and repair needs clearly to supervisors. Follow job preparation procedures and complete repairs within established timelines. Perform other duties as assigned and remain open to learning new systems, machinery, and technologies. Essential Functions Follow detailed work instructions, job safety analysis (JSAs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Conduct daily preventative maintenance, inspections, and machinery walk-arounds. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work area. Notify supervisors when parts, fluids, or materials need to be ordered. Adhere to all safety rules and immediately report unsafe conditions or machinery. Operate and test machinery safely and efficiently after repairs. Fuel, lubricate, and service machinery according to manufacturer specifications. Inspect and maintain critical components including oil levels, coolant, hydraulic systems, filters, belts, hoses, tires, alarms, horns, seat belts, and safety devices. Perform all required preventative maintenance tasks and inspections. Never perform any task you have not been trained to do or do not feel confident performing safely. Qualifications & Experience Extensive experience with machinery repair, diagnostics, and component rebuilds. Experience performing crane inspections (frequent, periodic, and annual) preferred. Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency with diagnostic software, precision tools, and crane inspection procedures. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Ability to train junior mechanics and support shop improvement efforts. Valid driver's license; CDL preferred. Experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical troubleshooting, and advanced mechanical systems. Performance Expectations Complete repairs accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision. Demonstrate mastery in troubleshooting without unnecessary part replacement. Maintain high productivity while upholding strict safety and quality standards. Represent the shop professionally and support a positive, safety-focused culture. Ensure cranes and machinery meet all regulatory and manufacturer requirements. - Ability to work under pressure during urgent repairs, breakdowns, or production-critical situations. Physical Requirements General Physical Demands Frequent lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. while walking. Lifting up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Standing or sitting for the entire production shift. Balance and Coordination

- Bending wrists, typing on keyboards, gripping and twisting knobs to adjust machine settings. Grip and Control of pens, markers, and other writing accessories. Ability to work overhead while measuring and making adjustments to equipment. Vision & Hearing Visual Acuity
- Ability to read instruction and view digital displays accurately. Peripheral Vision
- Especially important while operating forklifts.
Distant Visual Acuity:
At least 20/40 in each eye, with or without corrective lenses. Using peripheral vision while operating forklifts and other equipment. Hearing Acuity- Detecting changes in machine sounds that may indicate malfunctions.
Equipment Operation & Movement Forklift Operation:
Mounting and dismounting several times daily using three points of contact. Sitting properly and wearing the seatbelt. Turning head to look behind while reversing. Ability to use and get in and out of various other types of equipment after training. Ladder Use- Climbing and working from ladders at various elevations. Stair Navigation

- Kneeling and applying force with wrenches to tighten or adjust bolts. Personal Protective Equipment
- You will be required to wear the following personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, face shields, safety glasses, leather boots with a metatarsal guard, and a dust mask or other respirator (which may include a powered air-purifying respirator) when required.
