Job Description

William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is looking for an Articulated Dump Truck/Roller Operator. This role is critical to our site development operations. You'll haul material across the jobsite and compact soil and aggregate to spec, working closely with excavator operators, gps dozer operators, and foremen to keep production moving. Key Responsibilities Operate articulated dump trucks to haul dirt, rock, aggregate, and other materials safely and efficiently across rough and changing jobsite terrain. Operate smooth drum and padfoot (sheepsfoot) rollers to compact subgrade, fill, and base material to project specifications and density requirements. Coordinate loading and dumping with excavator and dozer operators. Follow haul routes, traffic patterns, and site-specific safety plans, including working around other equipment and ground personnel. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, check fluids, grease equipment, and report mechanical issues promptly. Keep equipment clean and in good working condition. Complete daily logs, inspection sheets, and time records accurately. Help with general labor tasks such as spotting, flagging, or cleanup when needed. Qualifications 1 year of experience operating articulated dump trucks and/or compaction rollers (experience with both is a strong plus). Understanding of compaction practices, lift thickness, and working with moisture/density requirements. Strong commitment to jobsite safety and awareness of blind spots, slopes, and soft ground conditions. Valid driver's license OSHA 10 certification preferred. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to jobsites within the Northern VA, Winchester area. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement William A.
