Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a bulldozer to raise or lower terrain to specified grades, following markings on grade stakes or hand signals. The operator may also service and make normal operating adjustments to the equipment. Responsibilities Operate bulldozer in successive passes to achieve desired terrain grade. Follow markings on grade stakes or respond to hand signals for precise grading. Perform regular servicing and make necessary adjustments to equipment. Ensure all operations adhere to safety regulations and standards. Essential Skills 1 to 3 years of bulldozer operating experience. Knowledge of construction techniques. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with tremble GPS and Topcon systems. DOT experience is preferred but not required. Competency in dependability, productivity, and effective communication. Ability to follow policies and procedures and work safely. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
