Position:
We are seeking a Heavy-Duty Tow/Recovery Operator to join our heavy-duty division. This is a salaried role with bonus commissions, designed for operators who want top-tier earnings, structured support, and a family-first environment.
What You'll Do:
Perform heavy-duty towing and complex recoveries (tractor-trailers, buses, heavy equipment) using late-model HD wreckers/rotators and support units. Execute safe rigging, load securement, and winching in accordance with WLL tagging and industry best practices. Coordinate on-scene with law enforcement, DOT/VDOT, fire/rescue, and customers following TIM (Traffic Incident Management) principles. Complete accurate digital documentation, photos, and job tickets; communicate professionally with dispatch and clients. Conduct pre/post-trip inspections and routine maintenance of assigned equipment; maintain a clean, professional appearance for the truck and operator. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule with protected rest—you will not be run around the clock.

Clean MVR that meets insurability standards; ability to pass a DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening. Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of heavy-duty towing, rigging, and load securement. Professional communication and customer-service skills; ability to work safely and decisively under pressure. Ability to lift 40 lbs, work outdoors in all conditions, and operate smartphones/tablets for digital workflows. Preferred (not required): prior HD towing/recovery experience; certifications such as WreckMaster/TRAA; hazmat awareness; air-cushion/rotator experience.

Pay Range:
$52,500 - $95,000 Salaried + bonus commissions. Exact compensation will be based on experience, certifications, and performance. Our Heavy-Duty Division offers a structured onboarding program for CDL-A drivers who are new to heavy-duty towing and recovery. Minimum requirement At least 1 year of CDL-A driving experience with a safe record. Strongly preferred Prior heavy-duty tow/recovery experience and relevant certifications (e.g., WreckMaster/TRAA, TIM). Candidates with verified HD experience may accelerate through onboarding. What our training covers Heavy-duty rigging fundamentals, WLL identification, and load-securement Safe winching, uprighting, and recovery techniques (including rotator familiarization) Traffic Incident Management (TIM) and on-scene coordination with law enforcement/VDOT/fire EV/alternative-fuel incident awareness and battery/thermal-runaway precautions Equipment inspections, documentation/photos, and digital ticket workflows Professional communication with dispatch, customers, and agencies Onboarding timeline (typical) 0-30 days: Safety orientation, HD ride-alongs, controlled-environment rigging drills 31-60 days: Supervised HD calls, progressive responsibility; skill checkoffs 61-90 days: Independent operations as qualified, with ongoing mentorship Notes All training is conducted to company standards and industry best practices; progression depends on demonstrated competency and safety.
