Position Overview The Equipment Operator will drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery during the construction process. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)- Safely and efficiently operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.
- Operate machinery in accordance with OSHA safety standards
- Communicate with Foreperson as to the daily job specifications.
- Perform daily maintenance and inspections of equipment/machinery; refer major problems to foreperson.
- Performs all duties safely and in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Follow directions of the foreperson as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.
- Clean the machines regularly (e.g., sweeping the cabs, removing trash, cleaning the interior, etc.)
- Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations and servicing of equipment.
- Various other duties as assigned. Skills & Specifications
- Ability to communicate appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary. Education/Professional Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent education; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess valid licenses and certifications.
