Position Overview The Equipment Operator will drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery during the construction process. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
  • Safely and efficiently operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.
  • Operate machinery in accordance with OSHA safety standards
  • Communicate with Foreperson as to the daily job specifications.
  • Perform daily maintenance and inspections of equipment/machinery; refer major problems to foreperson.
  • Performs all duties safely and in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow directions of the foreperson as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.
  • Clean the machines regularly (e.g., sweeping the cabs, removing trash, cleaning the interior, etc.)
  • Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations and servicing of equipment.
  • Various other duties as assigned. Skills & Specifications
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary. Education/Professional Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess valid licenses and certifications.
