Monday-Saturday Monday-Friday:
6:00 AM-5:30 PM |
Saturday:
6:00 AM-3:30 PM | Average 58+ hours per week •schedule may vary based on operational needs, emergency repairs, and field demands• Key Responsibilities Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, skid steers, haul trucks, rollers, and other site development equipment Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, compaction, site preparation, material handling, and utility installation support Read and work from grade stakes, plans, specifications, and GPS machine-control systems Perform daily equipment inspections and promptly report maintenance, safety, or operating concerns Operate equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining production and quality standards Work closely with Foremen, Superintendents, utility crews, and Project Managers to meet project goals and schedules Maintain awareness of personnel, utilities, structures, traffic, and surrounding equipment Assist with general field activities as needed to support the crew and project Required Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy equipment in site development, earthwork, utility, or heavy civil construction Ability to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment in varying jobsite conditions Understanding of excavation, grading, compaction, and general site development practices Ability to work around underground utilities, active crews, and other construction equipment Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Valid Virginia driver's license Legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment Experience with GPS/machine-control systems Experience with mass grading, excavation, utility installation, or site development Experience working around active underground utilities and trenching operations Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and navigate uneven terrain throughout the workday Ability to safely enter and exit heavy equipment and perform routine equipment inspections Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds Ability to maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, utilities, traffic, and jobsite conditions Ability to consistently wear required PPE Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules based on project needs Why Join Us Full-time position with a respected family-owned contractor serving the Greater Richmond region for over 50 years Modern, well-maintained equipment Steady work with a growing company Opportunity to operate multiple types of heavy equipment Build your skills across heavy civil and site development projects Team environment built around safety, quality, accountability, and craftsmanship Opportunities for career growth and advancement Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision benefits Disability and life insurance 401k retirement plan with employer match Employee recognition and perk programs Paid time off and paid holidays Opportunities for career advancement and professional development Supportive, team-oriented work environment If you take pride in running equipment, producing quality work, and being part of a team that gets the job done right, build your career with Liesfeld Contractor.
