Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Motor Equipment Operator to join Frederick County's Sanitary District team. In this hands-on role, you will operate and maintain a variety of heavy and light equipment to support the construction, maintenance, and repair of County infrastructure. As a Motor Equipment Operator, you will: Operate a dump truck, front-end loader and attachments, bobcat and attachments, pickup with snowplow and hopper, heavy roller, backhoe in maintenance and construction of roads, and a tractor with sickle bar - rotary cutter; and use various hand and power tools. Service and make repairs and adjustments on equipment. When not operating heavy equipment, operate lighter equipment or train other operators. Perform manual labor as directed by the manager or his/her designee. Perform related duties as assigned. Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Two (2) years' experience in the operation of motorized and heavy equipment. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Thorough knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary for the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment. Must be available for emergency call-outs and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
Requires frequent lifting of up to 80 pounds, prolonged standing and walking, and the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, grip, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
Environmental Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor work is conducted in variable weather conditions - including extreme heat/cold. Exposed to high or low temperatures, humid conditions, and other unfavorable weather conditions throughout the year.
