About Vermont Compost Company:
Vermont Compost Company's mission is to enhance and protect the soil, to help restore community food security. Based in Montpelier, VT, Vermont Compost Company has been making and supplying premium compost and soils to professional growers across the country for over 30 years, and all ingredients used in our products have been approved for certified organic production.
Position:
Vermont Compost Company is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The Heavy Equipment Operator is a member of the compost operations team and plays a critical role in the creation of our compost-based products and completion of various projects at our facilities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will participate in moving compost feedstock, building and turning compost windrows, and transporting compost for production in a safe and efficient manner. Additional duties, including facility projects, may be assigned as needed. Success in this role will require 5 years of excavator, front end loader, dozer, and heavy duty truck (with 8LL transmission) experience, the ability to work effectively in a team environment, and a willingness to work in various weather conditions. Preferred qualifications for this position include experience operating a roll-off truck, farming and forestry experience, earthwork/ road building/ grade management experience, and knowledge of compost making practices.
Compensation and Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a pay range of $20 - $30 per hour plus a generous benefits package including health and dental insurances; a Simple IRA retirement plan with company match; short and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; an Employee Assistance Program; employee-pricing; and paid time off. Regular overtime may also be available. The position is based in Montpelier, VT and most work will be performed during regular business hours, Monday - Friday; work outside of regular business hours will occasionally be required.
