The company specializes in heavy equipment operations for commercial, and municipal projects, including earthmoving and grading. Team members work closely together to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient services for clients. Role Description The Heavy Equipment Operating Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based in Northeast Wiscosnin. This role is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and skid steers for excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling activities. Daily tasks include interpreting site plans, setting grades, performing pre-operational inspections, and coordinating with site supervisors and crew members to complete projects on schedule. The Operating Engineer will help maintain equipment in good working order, follow all safety protocols and regulations, and contribute to keeping the job site organized and efficient. Occasional assistance with basic building and facility maintenance tasks may be required to support operational needs. Qualifications Experience with preventive maintenance on heavy equipment and related tools. Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment; familiarity with excavation and grading practices. Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe work practices on construction sites. Ability to read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions from supervisors. Good physical stamina, ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Reliable transportation to job sites throughtout Northeastern Wisconsin and a willingness to work standard construction hours, with occasional overtime as needed. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in heavy equipment operation are a plus. Ostrenga Excavating is signatory to the Operating Engineers Local 139.
