Equipment Operator 🕒 1st Shift Monday-Friday (occasional weekends as needed) About Alter Trading Company Alter Trading Corporation, a 127-year-old, privately held company operating over 70+ scrap metal processing facilities across 11 states. We are a leader in the recycling industry, trading recycled materials both nationally and internationally. Our team is committed to safety, integrity, and operational excellence. Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Equipment Operator to support daily non-ferrous operations. This role involves operating forklifts, small loaders or skidsteers, managing the kiosk, and ensuring materials are sorted and processed according to quality standards. Key Responsibilities Operate forklifts and other yard equipment Manually unload customer scrap metal Perform equipment inspections to ensure safe operation Load, unload, and sort materials Inspect materials to meet quality standards Understand and apply knowledge of material grades and acceptable loads Perform basic equipment maintenance Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment preferred Strong attention to safety and detail Ability to work in an outdoor, industrial environment Knowledge of scrap metal materials and grades is a plus Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities Why Join Alter?
