Job Description

Position Title:
Equipment Operator (Mini X OSP)
Location:
Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin Pay Range:
$30.00-$38.00 per hour

6-month contract-to-hire Key Qualifications Proven experience operating construction equipment, particularly mini excavators/mini ex. Experience in underground construction, utility, telecommunications, cable, or OSP construction preferred. Experience operating equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, drill rigs, directional drilling equipment, front-end loaders, reel trailers, boom trucks, or air compressors. Valid driver's license and clean, insurable MVR required. Class A CDL preferred; additional opportunities available for candidates who hold a Class A CDL. High school diploma or GED. Ability to pass a drug screen and background check. Understanding of OSHA requirements and general construction safety practices. Ability to read construction prints, site plans, and area maps. Ability to travel occasionally and work outdoors in demanding conditions. Ability to enter confined spaces and participate in on-call duties when required. Ability to lift or move up to 75 pounds. Key Responsibilities Safely operate mini excavators and other construction equipment to dig trenches and holes for underground cable infrastructure. Operate and transport construction machinery safely and efficiently. Support OSP construction crews with underground cable installation activities. Inspect equipment and vehicles before and after use. Perform or coordinate preventive equipment maintenance. Report safety concerns, equipment deficiencies, and unexpected field conditions. Assist with confined-space entry procedures as required. Help train new employees when requested. Provide project and crew-status updates. Follow OSHA standards, construction codes, and company procedures. Help keep projects safe, productive, and on schedule.
