We offer a recession-proof career opportunity in a clean, team-oriented environment where your skills and hard work are truly valued. We are currently seeking a Wood Finisher - Stainer/Painter. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing all tasks and responsibilities in mastering wood finishing. The position requires acquiring company technical knowledge, possessing manual dexterity, examining work for quality control issues, and transforming raw wood surfaces into durable, beautiful pieces. Advancement opportunities are available. Tasks and Responsibilities Verifying product measurements and other specifications Will be responsible for wood surface preparation. Knowing how to sand wood progressively from coarse to fine grits, raise and sand grain, and cleaning surfaces with tack cloths Will administer application techniques. Performing brushing, wiping, custom blending, and operating spray equipment for paints, lacquers, varnishes, and oils Understanding manual tool operation. Safe handling of orbital sanders, spray guns, hand scrapers, and power tools Is responsible for promoting quality control Is able to help maintain a task-orientated production schedule Suggesting and implementing with approval process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs Leading efforts in continuous improvement initiatives Maintaining a positive relationship within the warehouse and shop floor Maintaining and complying with all company safety regulations and best practices within the shop environment All other duties as assigned by management Requirements Ability to accurately identify quality control discrepancies Ability to read and execute detailed work instructions Able to perform basic fractional math Ability to accurately read a tape measure Skilled in using hand tools Ability to work with others as a team 2 - 3 years of experience is not required, but a plus Health and Safety Must comply with all safety and health standards established by Nick's Doors and federal, state, or local requirements Ability to bend and reach, with repetitive motion Hearing, naturally or with aids Vision 20/20, with or without correction Physical demands of the job include standing, use of hands to manipulate objects, talking, hearing, looking, typing, walking, twisting, and bending Employees could be requested to lift, carry, reach above the shoulder, stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch Employees could be required to lift up to 100 pounds unassisted The noise level in the work environment is usually low to medium
Pay:
$17.00 - $22.00 per hour
