05/06/2026- OUF Eligible Employer for Public Student Loan Forgiveness as a U.S. federal, state, local or tribal government Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, prepare and apply paint, varnish, stain, lacquer, wallpaper and related coatings to interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of buildings and other structures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Protect work area by placing drop cloths on equipment, furniture and floors to protect area from assigned work activities. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, using commercial paint removers, drywall repair, and plaster repair prior to finishing. Determine equipment and materials required for project estimates and assigned jobs as requested. Interact with management to evaluate existing conditions and products used; ensure proper selection of replacement finish materials meeting current design and quality expectations. Mix paints as necessary to achieve desired color for repairs to existing surfaces. Erect scaffold, ladders and safety barriers in line with departmental Safe Work Procedures. Perform interior and exterior painting on a wide variety of applications and painting surfaces. Operate parking lot stripe painter when directed; paint directional signage, parking space lines and lane dividers. Perform wallpaper repairs and install new wallpaper as assigned. Paint by hand letter signs or apply gold leaf or decal where order requires it. Repair of high end wall finish applications like DuraPlex and Stuhhi requiring special application techniques. Complete work orders for painting and assignments, indicating materials used and time involved. Evaluate assigned work area conditions and the types of products that are used to maintain safe work conditions for staff and patrons. Ensure GHS data is kept up to date as new products are brought into the workplace by providing supervisor with any new data sheets. Practice SECR Hospitality Rules with every internal and external guest. Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority. Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times. Contact with maintenance management regarding work schedules, special projects, work issues and needs.Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age. Three years of experience as a commercial painter or five years of experience in a building maintenance environment with a heavy focus on building finish or substrate repairs. Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
Ability to be certified on a variety of lifts to complete assigned duties. Must have a valid Michigan Driver`s License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. Native American preference shall apply to all positions.Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
Knowledge of installing, repairing and maintenance of various types of paints, lacquers and stains, and the surface materials on which they are applied. Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, agency policies, tools, basic math, blueprints and sketches. Knowledge of standard construction safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of appropriate methods and techniques applicable to the painting and drywall trade. Knowledge of the standards, codes and specifications common to the trade. Skill in painting and drywall work. Skill in the use of standardized and common equipment and tools. Skill in the safe operation of power tools and shop equipment. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to prepare records and reports. Ability to hang all types of wallpaper and have a thorough knowledge of its repair techniques and process of applying it to all surfaces.Physical Demands:
Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with painting equipment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. Work involves using hands to handle objects, equipment, controls and reach with arms and hands. Work involves extensive climbing and balancing. Position requires frequent lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs. Occasional heavy lifting of supplies and equipment up to 100 pounds.Work Environment:
Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials Exposure to hazardous stains, lacquers, other chemicals, and mold that require respiratory protection. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Evening, overnight, holiday and/or weekend work may be required. Travel may be required. Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing lights throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.Similar remote jobs
