Description Job Summary:
A Painter is responsible for knowledge of machines; tools and paint to paint and/or powder coat a variety of parts, components and structures. A Painter is required to have knowledge of the Traveler (work order) to determine the paint color for parts, components, and products and to determine required painting method. Must be able to verify conformance of finished product to the traveler (work order).Must be able to follow directions to mix paint to desired colors. Must be able to lay out, position and secure parts, components or structures. according to specifications for wet painting and/or dry powder coating. A Painter may use hand tools and hand spray painting equipment. Must have the ability to perform work in a steady methodic manner. A Painter will also be responsible for his/her safety and the safety of those around him/her. This will include a clean workstation before/during/after daily production.
Job Duties:
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Read work orders - analyze required paint operation Perform hand spray paint techniques over a lengthy time span Be able to use a variety of hand tools Be comfortable with spray painting Paint in a flat, horizontal, vertical, down or overhead position Examine products or work to verify conformance to specifications Maintain appropriate records, reports Clean work area Other duties as assigned Job Skills/Abilities/Physical Elements Use of painting equipment Push/pull 40 lbs of materials Use of hand tools Good hand/eye coordination Manual dexterity Be able to bend, stretch, twist or reach Self-motivated (independent) 8 hour shift (some overtime may be required) OT as required by customer demands Dirty environment Noisy environment Some temperature extremes Repetition Lifting and carrying 20-40 pounds Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching Standing for long periods of time Pushing and pulling of materials Be able to bend, stretch, twist, and reach Repetitive motion with one or both hands Good hand/eye coordination Reading blueprints or work instructions Use of small hand tools
