PeopleReady Skilled Trades - Marine Division is hiring experienced Local Painter JM1-JM4 to work at NASSCO in the Norfolk yard. Interested candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in a shipyard environment and meet the criteria below. All candidates will need to be able to pass a drug screen and background check in order to obtain DBIDs.
Pay $22- $28/hour DOERequiredProgressively advanced skills in surface preparation, coating application (brush, roll, spray), equipment operation, and documentation (environmental, WFT/DFT), depending on level.
Ability to work in industrial and shipboard environments, including tanks, confined spaces, and at heights.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs frequently and perform prolonged physical activity (standing, bending, kneeling, crouching).Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and shipyard procedures.
Willingness to learn and consistently follow safety, environmental, and PPE procedures.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman 4 Experience Generally, 5-10 years of advanced marine preservation experienceLeads advanced coating operations and inspections; sets up and coordinates preservation activities, equipment, and work areasProvides technical guidance and mentorship, supports audits and customer reviews, ensures compliance with NAVSEA, environmental, and quality requirementsDemonstrates expert knowledge of coating systems, SSPC standards, NAVSEA items, and environmental controls.
