Job Overview We are looking for a badass wet utilities guy. Not someone who has just been around underground construction. Not someone who needs a PM telling him what equipment to order, what the crew should be doing tomorrow, or how we're going to install the job. We need someone who knows how to build wet utilities and wants to take ownership of the field. If I hand you a set of plans for water, sewer and storm drain, I want you to be able to look through them, walk the site and tell me: "Here's how we're going to build it. Here's what I need. Here's my crew. Let's go." That's the guy we're looking for. You Need to Know Wet Utilities We're talking real field experience installing: Water mains and services Sewer mains and laterals Storm drain and RCP DIP and PVC Fire hydrants and fire services Valves, meters and backflows Manholes, catch basins and structures Grease interceptors Tie ins, shutdowns and cutovers Trenching, shoring and excavation Bedding, backfill and compaction Utility crossings and conflicts Testing, chlorination and commissioning Asphalt and concrete restoration You need to understand the entire operation, not just one piece of it. We Want Someone Who Owns It We want a field leader. Someone who is already thinking three days ahead. You know what equipment you need before the crew is standing around waiting for it. You know what material needs to be onsite. You know when something on the plans isn't going to work. You can run operators, pipefitters and laborers. You can coordinate inspectors, subs, suppliers and the office. You know production. You know how to install pipe. And when something goes sideways, your first instinct is to figure it out and keep the job moving. I don't want to tell you how to do your job. I want you to know your craft better than I do and bring that experience to the table. Where We're Going RyanCo Construction is growing. We're building a serious civil and underground utility operation, and we're looking for the people who want to build it with us. This isn't a giant company where you're employee number 347 and nobody knows your name. We're building the team right now. We're going after bigger work, more complicated work and some genuinely cool projects. This position will start project based / contract. If you're good, you prove yourself and we work well together, there is absolutely room for this to turn into something much bigger. I want people around me who are hungry, who take pride in what they build and who get excited about being part of something while it's still being built. It's not going to be glamorous every day. We're going to figure some crap out as we go. But if you're the kind of person who wants responsibility, wants your opinion to matter, wants to build something worth building, wants an opportunity to grow as the company grows, you might fit in really well here. What I Care About I care a lot less about a perfect resume than I do about whether you can actually run work. If you've spent years in the field, know underground utilities inside and out, can lead men, can solve problems and can take a job from plans to completion, I want to talk to you. When you apply, tell me what you've actually built. Give me a couple examples of wet utility jobs you've personally run. Tell me the pipe, approximate footage, crew size, what you were responsible for and what you actually did. I'm looking for the real deal.
