Job Description

We are seeking skilled professionals with 5+ years of civil construction and underground utility experience who understand what it takes to install underground infrastructure safely, efficiently, and correctly.
Position overview:
Specialized Utility Pipe Layer As a Utility Pipe Layer, you will be responsible for the installation of underground utility systems, including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and related civil infrastructure . The ideal candidate has strong field experience, understands utility plans and specifications, and can work effectively as part of a construction crew. What You'll Do Install and properly grade underground water, sewer, and stormwater pipe Read and interpret utility plans, profiles, specifications, and construction drawings Understand pipe grades, elevations, slopes, and utility alignments Set and maintain proper line and grade Install manholes, structures, fittings, valves, and related underground components Understand proper trenching and excavation practices Work safely around existing underground utilities Understand and follow trench safety and protective-system requirements Assist with excavation, bedding, backfill, compaction, and pipe installation Inspect pipe, fittings, and connections for proper installation Communicate effectively with equipment operators, foremen, superintendents, inspectors, and other crew members Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and project-specific safety procedures Identify potential hazards and stop work when conditions are unsafe Work outdoors in varying weather and construction conditions
What We're Looking For Required:
5+ years of experience in civil construction, underground utilities, or related pipe-laying work Demonstrated experience installing water, sanitary sewer, and/or storm sewer systems Strong understanding of trenching, excavation, and trench protective systems Ability to read and understand utility construction drawings and plans Understanding of pipe grades, elevations, slopes, and alignment Knowledge of underground utility installation practices Strong commitment to jobsite safety Ability to work as part of a crew and take direction from project leadership Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Ability to perform physical construction work, including lifting, digging, climbing, bending, and working in trenches Preferred Qualifications Experience with municipal or commercial utility construction Experience working from civil plans and profiles Experience with waterline installation and pressure testing Experience with sanitary and storm sewer installation Knowledge of OSHA trenching and excavation requirements Experience working around existing utilities Experience setting structures, manholes, valves, and related utility components Competent-person or trench-safety experience
Pay:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour
