Pipe Lasers, GPS Rovers, Line Transfer Units Lead the Trench - Set the Standard in Underground Utilities! Are you a skilled utility professional who knows how to lay pipe on grade and lead a crew with authority? We are hiring a Team Lead Pipe Layer for a direct placement role in Charles Town, WV . In this position, you will combine technical grade-setting skills with frontline leadership—reading civil plans, utilizing GPS rovers and pipe lasers, running utility testing, and directing daily site production for water, storm, and sanitary systems.
Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Daily Operations:
Lead, mentor, and coordinate a crew of pipe layers and labor personnel to meet production goals safely and efficiently.
Plan Reading & Precision Layout:
Interpret civil site plans to establish accurate lines and grades using pipe lasers, GPS rovers, and line transfer units .
Utility Installation & Testing:
Oversee deep underground utility installations (storm, sanitary, water main) and execute required field testing (air, mandrel, or pressure tests).
Equipment Support:
Support backfill and material handling by occasionally operating small wheel loaders and end-dump haul trucks as needed.
Safety & Daily Logs:
Maintain strict OSHA trench safety protocols, perform daily site safety inspections, and complete accurate daily production logs .
Candidate Requirements Experience:
5+ years preferred in underground utility pipe laying, with 2+ years leading crews or acting as a working foreman.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading civil blueprints, running utility acceptance tests, and operating pipe lasers, line transfer units, and GPS rovers.
Equipment Ability:
Hands-on experience operating small loaders and end-dump trucks preferred.
Certifications:
OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred) and a valid Driver's License .
