You will work in the trench with the foreman, equipment operators and laborers to set pipe to line and grade, build manholes and service connections, and leave every run ready to pass inspection.

Full-time, field-based Reports to: Utility Foreman / Superintendent Key responsibilities Install gravity sewer, force main and storm pipe (PVC, SDR-35, C900, HDPE, ductile iron and RCP) to plan line and grade Read plans, profiles and cut sheets; check grade with lasers, grade rods, string lines and survey stakes Prepare pipe bedding, set and joint pipe, and place and compact haunching and initial backfill to spec Set precast manholes, risers, cones and frames; build inverts and install boots and drop connections Install wyes, tees, service laterals and cleanouts; tap and tie in to existing live mains Install and inspect trench boxes, shoring and slide rail; work under competent-person direction Set up and run bypass pumping and flow control when working on active lines Support air, vacuum, mandrel/deflection and CCTV testing, and fix any deficiencies found Signal and guide excavator and loader operators safely around the trench Locate and protect existing utilities; follow 811 marks and potholing requirements Keep tools, lasers and materials organized; report pipe counts, issues and as-built changes to the foreman Mentor laborers and help train new pipe crew members Required qualifications 3+ years as a pipelayer on underground utility work, with at least 2 years on sanitary or storm sewer installation Proven ability to set pipe to grade using a pipe laser and grade rod Working knowledge of trench safety and

Subpart P (excavations) Able to read construction plans, profiles and cut sheets and do basic grade math OSHA 10-Hour Construction card (or able to obtain within 30 days) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen Comfortable working in all weather conditions, early starts and occasional overtime Preferred qualifications Competent Person certification for excavation and trenching Experience on deep sewer (12 ft+), live tie-ins and bypass pumping Experience with water main, storm drainage or directional boring Confined space entry, first aid/CPR or flagger certification CDL Class A or B Physical requirements and work environment Lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly; handle heavier pipe with equipment and team lifts Stand, bend, kneel, climb and work in trenches and confined spaces for long periods Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, mud and near heavy equipment and traffic Wear required PPE at all times: hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, eye and hearing protection
