Plastic Pipefitter / Bolt-Up Installer / Pipefitting Helper Job Summary Responsible for assisting in the fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of plastic piping systems (such as

PVC, CPVC, HDPE

), including performing bolt-up connections on flanged systems. This role may range from entry-level helper duties to more skilled pipefitting tasks depending on experience. Key Responsibilities Plastic Pipefitting Measure, cut, thread, and assemble plastic piping (PVC, CPVC, HDPE, etc.) Install piping systems for water, drainage, chemical, or industrial use Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications Join pipes using solvent welding, heat fusion, or mechanical fittings Ensure proper alignment, slope, and support of piping systems Bolt-Up Installation Assemble and install flanged piping systems using bolts, nuts, and gaskets Torque bolts to specified requirements using hand and power tools Inspect flange faces, gaskets, and bolt integrity before installation Assist with hydro-testing and leak checks after installation Follow proper bolt-up sequences and safety standards Helper / General Labor Duties Assist pipefitters and supervisors with daily tasks Transport materials, tools, and equipment to job sites Clean and prepare work areas Hold, align, and secure pipes during installation Follow instructions and learn trade skills on the job Required Skills & Qualifications Basic knowledge of hand and power tools Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various environments Willingness to learn pipefitting techniques and safety procedures Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications (Not Always Required) Experience with plastic pipe systems (PVC, CPVC, HDPE) Familiarity with flange bolt-up procedures Ability to read blueprints or isometric drawings OSHA safety training or similar certification Work Environment Construction sites, industrial plants, or commercial projects May involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or outdoors Exposure to varying weather conditions and job site hazards Career Growth Entry-level helper → Apprentice Pipefitter → Journeyman Pipefitter →
