Job Title:
Pipefitter Job Description This role focuses on the layout, assembly, and installation of mechanical piping systems in commercial and light industrial environments, with an emphasis on steel pipe and Victaulic/grooved coupling methods rather than traditional welding. You will interpret project plans and drawings, install pipe supports and valves, and ensure all piping systems meet established installation standards and project specifications. Responsibilities Perform accurate layout and installation of piping systems according to project plans and drawings. Install pipe hangers, supports, valves, and related hardware to ensure proper alignment and secure mounting. Work with Victaulic and grooved piping systems using bolted mechanical couplings instead of traditional welding methods. Assemble and install steel piping systems using mechanical couplings and appropriate tools. Identify, select, and install appropriate pipe fittings and components for each application. Assist with material take-offs and identification of required piping, fittings, and components from drawings and specifications. Follow project plans, installation standards, and construction drawings to ensure code-compliant and high-quality installations. Collaborate with other trades and team members on site to coordinate work and maintain project timelines. Use provided fitting guides, handbooks, and reference materials to verify proper installation methods and configurations. Maintain a safe and organized work area and follow all site safety policies and procedures. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience in pipefitting or plumbing with mechanical systems installation. Strong ability to perform layout and assemble piping systems from drawings and specifications. Experience working with steel pipe systems in commercial or light industrial construction environments. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and piping configurations. Hands-on experience installing pipe hangers, supports, valves, and mechanical couplings. Knowledge of piping installation standards and construction practices. Journeyman-level pipefitter or plumber experience preferred. Mechanical installation experience strongly preferred over welding-heavy backgrounds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Victaulic and grooved piping system experience is a strong plus. Familiarity with bolted coupling methods for mechanical pipe assembly. Applicable licenses or certifications related to pipefitting or plumbing are strongly preferred. OSHA 10 certification is preferred. Experience in commercial or light industrial construction environments. Comfort using fitting guides, handbooks, and other technical reference materials. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
