Job Description
JKC Excavation is seeking an experienced Mainline Hoe Operator to join our underground utility team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating excavators on water, sewer, and storm drain installations and be capable of working safely and efficiently around existing utilities, trenches, and crew members. This position plays a critical role in underground utility construction projects throughout Idaho and requires a strong understanding of grade control, trench safety, and utility installation practices. Responsibilities Operate excavators for installation of water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure. Excavate trenches to proper line and grade. Work closely with pipe foremen, grade checkers, and pipe crews. Safely excavate around existing utilities and structures. Load trucks, place bedding material, and perform backfill operations. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs. Follow project plans, specifications, and utility layouts. Maintain compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations. Qualifications 3+ years of excavator experience in underground utility construction. Experience installing water, sewer, and storm drain systems. Ability to work from grade stakes, laser levels, and project plans. Understanding of trench safety and excavation requirements. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Valid Idaho driver's license required. CDL preferred but not required. GPS machine control experience is a plus.
