Field Laborer / Pipe Layer - Heavy Civil Construction Idaho Grading & Trucking - Pocatello, ID Full-Time | Field Operations | Year-Round Work Idaho Grading & Trucking is growing our Pocatello-area field operations team and is looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our underground utility and heavy civil construction crews. We are hiring at multiple experience levels , from entry-level Laborers to experienced Laborers and individuals with underground utility experience who are ready to grow into a Pipe Layer I position. Whether you are new to construction or already have experience working around underground utilities, we want to talk with you. What You'll Do Depending on your experience and skill level, your responsibilities may include: Perform general labor including shoveling, raking, grading, cleanup, and material handling Assist equipment operators, pipe crews, and truck drivers Safely work around heavy equipment and underground utilities Assist with excavation, grading, trench preparation, backfill, and compaction Help set and maintain pipe, fittings, valves, and utility structures Assist with installation of water, sewer, storm drain, and irrigation systems Follow grade stakes, elevations, and layout markings Assist with line and grade using grade rods, lasers, and other field tools Safely communicate with equipment operators during excavation and utility installation Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite Care for company tools and equipment Follow company safety policies and OSHA requirements Work as part of a crew to meet production and quality expectations Take direction from the Foreman and communicate effectively with the crew Positions Available Based on ExperienceLaborer I - Entry Level This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is new to construction and wants to learn a skilled trade. No previous construction experience is required. You will learn the fundamentals of heavy civil construction while gaining hands-on experience in excavation, grading, underground utilities, equipment support, and jobsite safety. Laborer II For individuals with construction experience who can work with limited supervision and have developed skills in grading, excavation, utility work, trench preparation, backfill, and compaction. Laborer III For experienced construction workers who can work independently, understand grade stakes and elevations, support underground utility operations, communicate effectively with equipment operators, and help mentor less-experienced crew members. Pipe Layer I For individuals with underground utility experience or qualified Laborer III employees ready to move into pipe installation. Pipe Layer I employees assist with the installation of water, sewer, storm drain, and irrigation systems while developing skills in pipe installation, line and grade, utility structures, trench safety, and underground construction.
