Job Description

Pipe Layer Helper Cabildo Staffing is seeking experienced Pipe Layer Helpers for construction projects throughout New Orleans and the surrounding areas. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity for dependable candidates with prior underground utility construction experience.
Pay:
$17.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Weekends as needed based on project requirements Position Summary The Pipe Layer Helper will assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground sewer, storm drain, and water utility systems. Candidates must be comfortable performing physically demanding work in outdoor environments and assisting pipe laying crews with all phases of utility installation. Requirements Minimum of 1 year of Pipe Layer Helper experience or related underground utility construction experience Valid Driver's License required Reliable transportation to various job sites throughout New Orleans and surrounding areas Must pass a pre-employment drug screen Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting, digging, bending, and working in trenches Must be dependable and able to report to work on time Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist with the installation of sewer, water, and drainage pipe systems Perform trench digging, grading, and site preparation Assist with laying, aligning, and connecting underground utility pipe Load, unload, and stage materials, equipment, and tools Assist with setting grades and elevations Backfill and compact trenches as directed Operate hand tools and small power tools safely Assist with locating and protecting existing utilities Maintain a clean and safe work site Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Work effectively as part of a construction crew in varying weather conditions Preferred Qualifications Experience assisting with sewer and water main installation Ability to read construction plans and blueprints Experience using lasers and grade equipment is a plus Knowledge of underground utility construction practices PPE Requirements Candidates must report to work with the following
