Position Summary Wage:
$30-38 per hour, depending on experience We are seeking an experienced and dependable Auger Bore Operator to join our underground construction team in Wixom, MI. This position is responsible for operating boring equipment used to install underground casing, typically steel pipe, through horizontal jack and bore methods. Projects commonly involve the installation of sewer, water, and utility lines beneath roads, railroads, and other structures without open trenching. The ideal candidate will have experience in underground utility construction, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities Operate auger boring machines and hydraulic jacking systems Set up bore pits and verify proper alignment and grade prior to drilling Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and utility drawings Monitor bore operations to ensure accuracy and safe installation practices Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance Troubleshoot operational issues in the field Follow OSHA regulations, trench safety requirements, and company safety procedures Work closely with crew members, supervisors, and project managers to complete projects efficiently Maintain clean and organized job sites Requirements Experience with horizontal auger boring or similar underground construction methods preferred Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grades Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills Understanding of trench safety and OSHA regulations Valid driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record CDL preferred but not required Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks Willingness to work overtime, occasional Saturdays, and emergency call-outs as needed Work Environment Construction sites, including bore pits and confined spaces Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Exposure to heavy equipment, underground utilities, noise, mud, and other construction-related hazards Physically demanding work requiring lifting, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods Schedule Typical schedule: Monday through Friday 40-50 hours per week Typical work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00/6:00 p.m. Occasional Saturdays and emergency work may be required Background & Drug Screening Requirements All employees are subject to pre-employment and annual screening requirements.
