William P. Davis Excavation LLC is looking for an experienced and versatile equipment operator to join our team. We are looking for someone who is a skilled operator, but just as importantly, someone who considers themselves a well-rounded construction professional . This is not a seat-only operator position. Our projects and scopes vary, and we do not always have 40 hours a week of excavator or equipment operation for one individual. The right person needs to be comfortable getting out of the machine and contributing wherever the project needs them. One day may involve operating an excavator installing utilities, another may involve grading, loading trucks, setting structures, assisting with pipe installation, concrete work, layout, demolition, or working alongside the rest of the crew on the ground. We value people who understand that the goal is to build the project , not simply operate a piece of equipment. The ideal candidate has enough experience to move comfortably between different machines, understand the work happening around them, and recognize what needs to happen next. When there is equipment to run, we expect a capable and productive operator. When there isn't, we expect the same person to be willing to grab a shovel, help install pipe, set grades, form concrete, or do whatever else is necessary to keep the project moving. What We're Looking For Significant experience operating excavators and other heavy construction equipment Experience in sitework, utilities, drainage, excavation, and civil construction Ability to safely and efficiently operate multiple types and sizes of equipment Experience excavating around existing utilities and structures Understanding of grades, elevations, slopes, and site plans Ability to work with pipe crews and understand underground utility installation Willingness and ability to work outside of the machine when needed General construction knowledge and mechanical ability Ability to think ahead and work without constant direction Strong awareness of production, safety, and quality A team-first attitude and willingness to take on different responsibilities as project needs change We are not looking for someone whose only interest is operating a machine.
