Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Pipe Grinder to join our fabrication and welding team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing pipe joints, bevels, and surfaces to precise specifications to ensure high-quality, defect-free welds. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, experience working with heavy metals, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation:
Grind, bevel, and clean pipe ends, joints, and surfaces using angle grinders, pneumatic tools, and automated beveling equipment.Weld Prep & Fitting:
Ensure correct root openings, bevel angles, and fit-ups according to engineering blueprints, welding symbols, and project specifications.Defect Removal:
Gouge, grind out, and clean up weld defects, slag, spatter, and excess reinforcement as directed by quality control or welding inspectors.Tool Maintenance:
Inspect, maintain, and properly store grinding equipment, abrasive wheels, power tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all OSHA standards, company safety protocols, and plant regulations, maintaining a hazard-free work area.Qualifications & Requirements Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating portable grinders, pneumatic tools, and measuring instruments (calipers, bevel gauges).Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and interpret basic welding symbols, fabrication drawings, and pipe specifications.Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various physical positions (bending, kneeling, or in tight spaces).Work Ethic:
