We are currently looking for an experienced Rhode Island-licensed Journeyman Pipefitter with a strong background in boiler systems, hydronic heating, and heating service and installation . We are specifically looking for a technician with oil-fired boiler experience. This position is intended for someone who already has hands-on heating experience and is comfortable installing, servicing, and troubleshooting boiler and hydronic systems in the field. We work on a wide variety of heating equipment, including oil, natural gas, and propane boiler systems , giving the right technician an opportunity to work on everything from traditional cast-iron boilers to modern high-efficiency equipment. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Install, service, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial boiler systems Diagnose and troubleshoot oil, natural gas, and propane heating equipment Install and service hydronic heating systems, circulators, zone valves, controls, expansion tanks, air separators, and related components Perform boiler replacements and near-boiler piping Diagnose heating system performance and circulation issues Work with multi-zone heating systems and indirect water heaters Install, modify, and repair heating and mechanical piping Thread and assemble black iron and steel piping Solder and braze copper piping as required Work with copper, black iron, PEX, and other approved piping materials Read and interpret piping diagrams, equipment specifications, manufacturer instructions, and applicable mechanical codes Inspect and test completed piping and heating systems Complete accurate job notes, photos, and documentation Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Properly maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management Assist with and provide guidance to apprentices and helpers when needed Requirements Valid Rhode Island Journeyman Pipefitter license required Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on pipefitting/heating experience Oil-fired boiler experience strongly required/preferred Experience with boiler and hydronic heating systems Valid driver's license and clean driving record DMV/RMV check required Background check required Ability to diagnose heating and mechanical problems Strong understanding of piping layouts and mechanical systems Knowledge of applicable codes and jobsite safety requirements Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable, punctual, and professional Experience We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with: Oil-fired boiler installation, service, and troubleshooting Gas and propane boiler systems High-efficiency and condensing boilers Traditional cast-iron boilers Hydronic heating and multi-zone systems Boiler controls and related electrical troubleshooting Circulators and zone valves Indirect water heaters Expansion tanks, air elimination, and system fill components Black iron and steel piping Copper piping and soldering Reading piping diagrams and manufacturer specifications Diagnosing heating systems rather than simply replacing components What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience and license level Overtime opportunities Year-round work 401(k) retirement plan Health insurance Dental insurance Disability insurance Paid holidays Paid vacation Company uniforms Company truck may be provided depending on position and qualifications Training and continuing education opportunities Opportunity for advancement as SOS Plumbing & Heating continues to grow Long-term career opportunity with a locally owned company Benefits are subject to applicable eligibility and waiting periods.
