Industrial Piping Technician
Job Description
About the Role As an Industrial Piping Technician, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the complex infrastructure that drives large-scale industrial operations. You will leverage your expertise in pipefitting and fabrication to ensure that critical fluid and gas systems are installed with precision, safety, and long-term reliability. Responsibilities Execute the installation, assembly, and repair of industrial piping systems, ensuring all work aligns with precise engineering specifications. Perform high-quality welding, cutting, and fabrication using TIG, MIG, and stick methods to create custom piping components. Interpret complex technical blueprints and 2D drawings to accurately determine routing and placement of piping networks. Conduct rigorous hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing to verify system integrity and prevent operational leaks. Select and install appropriate valves, flanges, gaskets, and fittings to optimize system performance and flow. Maintain structural stability by installing proper hangers, brackets, and supports to mitigate stress on piping systems. Diagnose and resolve system malfunctions, including corrosion or flow disruptions, to minimize downtime. Mentor apprentices and junior staff, fostering a culture of safety and technical excellence on the job site. Qualifications Required Skills Proven experience in industrial pipefitting and plumbing systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and 2D schematics. Strong grasp of applied mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for layout work. Expertise in operating specialized tools such as pipe threaders, cutters, and benders. Deep understanding of safety standards including ASME, ANSI, and OSHA regulations. Effective verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration and documentation. Preferred Skills Experience with conduit bending and pulling in industrial settings. Advanced knowledge of specialty alloys and carbon steel fabrication. Demonstrated ability to handle hazardous materials in compliance with environmental standards. Prior experience providing technical training or mentorship to junior trade personnel.
