Qualified candidates should be comfortable with:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping plans
- Measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and fitting pipe
- Properly laying out pipe runs and determining elevations and dimensions
- Installing and assembling pipe, fittings, valves, flanges, and related components
- Understanding different types and sizes of pipe and fittings
- Using hand tools, power tools, pipe machines, levels, and measuring equipment
- Aligning and fitting pipe accurately before welding or connecting
- Working with flanged, threaded, grooved, and welded piping systems
- Following project specifications and installation procedures
- Working safely around heavy equipment and an active construction site
