Plumber / Plumbing Technician Job Summary The Plumber / Plumbing Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential and commercial plumbing systems. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, professional customer service, and the ability to safely perform plumbing work in a variety of environments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, repair, replace, and maintain plumbing fixtures, pipes, valves, drains, water lines, and related plumbing components. Diagnose plumbing problems and determine the appropriate repair or replacement needed. Perform plumbing inspections and troubleshoot leaks, clogs, drainage issues, water pressure problems, and other plumbing concerns. Install and repair sinks, toilets, faucets, showers, tubs, garbage disposals, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures. Cut, assemble, connect, and secure pipes and fittings using appropriate tools and materials. Perform drain cleaning and clearing of clogged plumbing lines. Test plumbing systems for leaks and proper operation after completing repairs or installations. Read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and installation instructions. Accurately measure and document materials and parts required for each job. Maintain a clean and organized work area and protect customer property while performing work. Communicate professionally with customers regarding the work being performed, recommended repairs, and any concerns identified. Explain repair options and obtain appropriate customer authorization before performing additional work when required. Maintain accurate job notes, photographs, measurements, and documentation. Properly use, maintain, and secure company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable plumbing codes and regulations. Identify unsafe conditions and report them to management. Coordinate with office personnel, customers, contractors, and other technicians as necessary to complete assigned work. Complete assigned work in a timely and professional manner. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Customer Service Responsibilities Arrive at customer locations on time and in appropriate work attire. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers. Clearly communicate the scope of work and any issues discovered during the service. Respect customer homes, businesses, property, and privacy. Leave the work area clean and free of debris upon completion. Address customer questions professionally and refer pricing, warranty, or other matters requiring management approval to the appropriate office personnel. Safety and Compliance Follow company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Operate tools and equipment safely and properly. Follow applicable federal, state, and local plumbing codes and safety regulations. Properly handle plumbing materials, chemicals, equipment, and waste. Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, or hazardous conditions to management. Qualifications Previous plumbing experience preferred. Knowledge of residential and/or commercial plumbing systems. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing problems. Ability to safely operate common plumbing tools and equipment. Ability to read work orders, instructions, and basic plumbing diagrams. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, if driving a company vehicle is required. Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces as required by the position. Physical Requirements The position may require frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, and working in confined or awkward spaces. The employee may be required to lift and carry tools, equipment, pipes, fixtures, and materials. The employee must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Work Environment Work may be performed in residential homes, commercial buildings, construction sites, apartment communities, and other customer locations. The position may involve exposure to varying temperatures, water, dirt, dust, noise, chemicals, and other conditions commonly associated with plumbing work.
