Modern office setting Food provided Tools provided Vehicles provided Clean uniforms provided About this role We are hiring one Senior Plumbing Technician to step into the seat of our most senior service technician, who is retiring after more than two decades with Lutz. This is our top field position. You will run the most technically demanding calls in our book, work directly with homeowners, designers and general contractors, and set the standard for the rest of the service team. We are not looking for someone who needs supervision. We are looking for someone other plumbers call when they are stuck.
Responsibilities:
Run residential and commercial service, repair and remodel calls independently, from diagnosis through completion and customer sign-off Diagnose and repair plumbing systems in San Francisco's older building stock, including cast iron and galvanized supply and waste lines, sewer laterals, and pre-war fixtures and valves Install high-end decorative fixtures, faucets and trim to a finish-critical standard, working with the premium brands carried in our showroom Verify rough-in dimensions and coordinate rough and trim sequencing so finish product lands correctly the first time Scope work on site, prepare estimates, and present pricing directly to homeowners, interior designers and general contractors Mentor, train and troubleshoot alongside junior technicians and apprentices, and serve as the escalation point when a call goes sideways Install, repair and maintain water, waste, vent, gas and recirculation systems Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and fixture specifications Test systems for leaks and defects using air pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing and camera and line locating equipment Work to current California and San Francisco plumbing code, pull permits and pass inspections Coordinate with contractors, electricians, inspectors and showroom staff to keep projects on schedule Maintain accurate job documentation, photos, materials lists and time records
Requirements:
10+ years of hands-on plumbing experience at journeyman level or above Deep working knowledge of California and San Francisco plumbing codes and the permit and inspection process Proven ability to run calls solo and make the right call without a supervisor on site Experience with older San Francisco building systems, including cast iron, galvanized and sewer lateral work Experience installing high-end decorative fixtures and trim, with an understanding of finish tolerances and how to protect finished product Comfortable estimating and quoting work in front of a customer Track record of training or leading less experienced technicians Proficient with hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, drain machines and diagnostic equipment Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and customer-facing communication Experience with remodel and repipe projects strongly preferred Knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus
