Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

This position is responsible for overseeing and performing plumbing installations, maintenance, and repairs across district facilities. This role ensures compliance with safety standards and plumbing codes while coordinating with other trades and supervising plumbing personnel.

Education Level:
Required:

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution or equivalent technical certificates or vocational license in plumbing trade, OR

Formal training as a plumber or equivalent journeyman level plumbing experience above 10 years.

Required:

Must have a valid driver's license

Preferred:

Valid Class B, CDL driver's license

State License:

Plumbing

Experience, Skill, and Certification:

Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

Effective communication and leadership abilities.

Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment safely.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the duties herein Test electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility

Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including water supply lines, drainage systems, and fixtures.

Diagnose plumbing issues and implement effective solutions.

Supervise and train plumbing staff and coordinate work schedules.

Review construction and renovation plans for plumbing requirements.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal plumbing codes.

Maintain inventory of plumbing tools, equipment, and supplies.

Collaborate with other maintenance and construction teams.

Respond to emergency plumbing calls and perform on-call duties.

Document work performed and maintain accurate service records.

Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has the right to revise this job description at any time and it does not in any way represent a contract of employment. Incumbents will be considered "at will" and appropriate pay will be determined based on the assigned pay grade and allowable experience. Position requires on-call work outside of regularly scheduled hours.

This position is considered to be "essential personnel, critical staff" when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in

Work Environment

Employees in this classification typically work indoors and outdoors and may experience extreme weather conditions, prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, or stretching. Duties may require the lifting or pulling of heavy equipment or supplies. Essential functions include reading, listening, writing, and speaking, with some positions requiring exceptional physical and sensory demands.
